Tea Time

Life without a working kitchen has actually been pretty fun. With no pressure to create big meals, we are eating a lot of raw fruits and vegetables and grilled meats. I am VERY thankful it’s summer. strawberry dreams

I may have overscheduled my almost 3 weeks off between semesters with about 3 months worth of projects. Instead of beating myself up about it – I am choosing to acknowledge the fact that I needed some downtime.  The last few months have been mentally, emotionally and spiritually exhausting and I needed to just hibernate [...]

cooking ahead – Italian Meatball Subs

I bought the 30 day gourment software about a million years ago and I’m just now getting around to using it.  I love the concept of bulk cooking, but my family is really great about eating leftovers so we usually eat the same thing 2 meals in a row.  That means that I’m cooking in [...]

sweet potato fries

update… As yummy as that recipe looks, I just didn’t have time for the deep frying last night. I went with the Country Living Baked Sweet Potato Fries instead. They were a HUGE hit, quick and easy to make, and definitely going into my recipe rotation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I’m gonna try cooking up some sweet potato [...]

pondering Nutella

THIS blog post by sewhooked seems to be hinting that Nutella is very much like the filling of Ferrero Rocher.   Could this be true?   This could be a very very bad thing for my slimming down-ness. oh.. and how scrumptious do those Faux Rocher’s look?   I’m in trouble here.

The perfect restaurant steak at home

Call it laziness, call it frugalness but I wasn’t up to going out and fighting the crowds for a Valentine’s Day supper. I’ve pawned all my kids off on family members, and I didn’t want to waste a night alone with my sweetheart at a restarant. BUT I wanted a good steak and some crab [...]
