Under Air Conditioned… (by choice mostly)
You know how some people are under-employed, under-educated, or under-insured? I am under-airconditioned.
We don’t have AC in the main part of the cabin, but we do in the bedrooms (or trailer serving as bedroom suite as the case may be) This is mostly by choice. I could go out and get an AC this afternoon and DH would have me cool by evening. But I want to try to make it. I want to spend the money somewhere else, and buy the AC when they go on sale in fall.
I was feeling very smug about handling it just fine, when I read that we just had the coolest July in like 50 years. hmmm… so much for that.
August is proving hot and muggy already. So far so good. We have lots of fans, and we have the cool rooms to go to during the hottest part of the day or just for a quick cool down.
I am actually impressed by how much fans cool you down (if you aren’t moving around too much). We try to do our physical work early in the morning, and laze around reading in front of the fans or in the bedrooms during the hot part of the day.
It feels very Mediterranean. Another benefit – when I am outside I am not nearly so miserable. I’m becoming adjusted to the heat.
Surprising downside – wanting to wear a jacket when I go in air-conditioned classrooms and store. brrrrrr!!!!
